The Peter and Paul Fortress was founded by Peter I in 1703. In addition to viewing the ancient fortifications on the grounds of the fortress, one can visit the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral dating back to the early XVIII century (architect D.Trezzini). Located within the cathedral is the burial vault of Peter the Great and other Russian tsars. The museum in Trubetskoy Bastion Prison holds expositions of "The History of St.Petersburg", "The History of the Imperial Mint", and "Pechatnya" (Printing Workshop). The fortress also includes The Museum on Cosmonautics and Missilery, and the excursion route entitled "Panorama of the Neva" - over the roofs of the fortress' bastions. By booking beforehand, the collection of furniture storage is also available.

The Cabin of Peter the Great
Constructed for Peter the Great in May 1703 this cabin was the first building in St.Petersburg. The museum exhibition contains household items dating back to the beginning of the XVIII century, including personal belongings of Peter the Great. The exhibitions also include information on the Russian victories during the Northern War of 1700-1721.

The Historical Museum Smolny Cathedral
This building was constructed in the early XIX century (architect G.Guarenghi). It is the site of many turning points in the history of both Russia and St.Petersburg. The complex in which the museum is housed includes the historical hall, where in 1917 the victory of the October revolution was proclaimed, the memorial study and apartment where V.I.Lenin lived from 1917-1918. In addition there are two exhibitions entitled "Smolny Institute for Gentile Families' Girls", and "Smolny, the Days of the Siege".

The Museum of the Political History of Russia
On display: original objects, documents and photographs dedicated to Russian history of the XIX-XX centuries, as well as the thematic exhibition of the life story of the outstanding Russian ballerina M.Kshessinskaya (the former owner of the mansion). A new exposition "Deeming on the State Duma" elucidates the history of Russian parliamentarism in the XX century.

The Museum of S.M.Kirov
S.M.Kirov was one of the most well-known Bolsheviks, who headed the Leningrad Regional Committee of the Communist Party from 1926 to 1934. The atmosphere which surrounded the life and the work of S.M.Kirov, one of the most popular political leaders of his time, is recreated in the memorial part of his apartment.

The Wax Museum of Historical Figures
The Wax Museum of Historical Figures is a museum comprised of wax representations of celebrated Russian personages. It is located in the Beloselsky-Belozersky palace, one of the most famous buildings on Nevsky Prospect. It is one of the biggest and oldest wax museums in Russia. The museum contains more than 200 different reproductions of distinguished personalities, from Ivan the Terrible to Boris Yeltsin. Among the figures housed at The Wax Museum of Historical Figures are replicas of many well-known political and literary figures, such as: Doestoevsky, Tolstoy, Emperor Pavel, Czar Alecksey, and some members of the Romanov Dynasty.
