The Museum of Ethnography of Russia
This museum was originally established in 1901 as the ethnography department of the Russian Museum and was later opened in 1923.
The main collection (over 260 thousand articles and 140 thousand photographs) holds the items related to the culture and life of the citizens of the nations of the former USSR, as well as modern folk art.

The Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic
This museum, the largest museum of the Arctic and Antarctic in Europe and the only one in Russia, holds a permanent display, which describes the history of the discovery and exploration of these frozen lands. It goes without saying that children are particularly interested in the tent used by Papanin (the well-known scientist and explorer of the North), and in a genuine SH-2 seaplane which took part in expeditions across the ice. Children will also linger of sailing boats and modern ships whose life size counterparts have traveled right up to the Antarctic ice barrier. There is also a video room at the museum which shows films on the history of the conquest of the North and South Poles, famous polar explorers, and the animals and birds which inhabit the areas.

The Zoological Museum

Botanical Garden
One of the oldest Russian botanical gardens, founded by the order of Peter the Great in 1713. Its territory covers 23 ha with 10 ha of conservatories. The collection numbers over 12,000 species of plants, among them is one of the largest collections of tropical and subtropical plants in the world. Museum of V.L.Komarov Botanic Institute
This museum is the oldest scientific department of the Botanical Institute, founded in 1823. It's unique collection contains over 120,000 specimens of wood, fruit, seeds, and various products made from plants.

The Museum of M, V. Lomonosov
The museum was established in 1947 and later opened in 1949 in the building of Kuntskamera. The museum houses the exhibition "Lomonosov and Russian Astronomy of the 18th Century". The decor of the conference hall of the Academy of Science of the 18th century was recently reconstructed.
